CP meets Mr PiketCP meets Mr Piket

Mr Vincent Piket, Head of European Union (EU) Office to Hong Kong and Macao, paid a courtesy call on Commissioner Lo Wai-chung on September 17.

Mr Piket discussed a number of issues with Mr Lo, including the co-operation between the Force and the EU, money laundering, cyber crime, terrorism and policing of public events.

Mr Piket was visiting the Force for the third time, further enhancing mutual understanding. Mr Lo told Mr Piket that the Force placed great importance on maintaining international relationships for fighting international crimes through established channels. Mr Piket pointed out that Hong Kong is recognised as a world-class city with stable rule of law and a first class police force.

Consul-General Visits

Earlier on September 14, Mr Mehdi Fakheri, the Consul-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hong Kong and Macao, paid a courtesy call on Mr Lo, the first visit to the Force after his arrival in Hong Kong in May.

Mr Fakheri discussed a variety of issues with Mr Lo, including trafficking in dangerous drugs via the Middle East, terrorism, money laundering and commercial fraud, all of which have been affecting the Iranian community in Hong Kong.

The visit also enabled the Consul-General to get a better understanding of the work of the Force and laid a solid foundation for closer co-operation in law enforcement between Iran and the Force.
