警聲

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the "Breakfast with CP", Commissioner Lo Wai-chung hosted a traditional South Asian breakfast with a specially prepared dessert, usually taken during the Muslim festive event (Eid-ul-fitr) to mark the end of Ramadan, for Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) officers on July 7.

The Commissioner has hosted breakfast sessions for officers across the Force since July 2015 to strengthen internal communication and express his appreciation for the work of the many "unsung heroes". Through the breakfasts, the Commissioner has directly interacted with over 800 officers and civilians of different ranks from a variety of units and formations.

During the latest breakfast session with nine NEC officers, Mr Lo said to them, "The Force is committed to engaging different sectors of the community so as to enhance communication with the public and foster mutual trust and partnership. I hope all of you will act as ambassadors to encourage NEC youngsters to join our Junior Police Call and the Force in fighting crime."

Inspector Abdul Faisal told OffBeat after the breakfast, "We benefited a lot as the Commissioner shared his invaluable experience with us over the breakfast table. In addition, the Force has provided on-the-job training to NEC officers so as to help us meet the work challenges brought by cultural differences."

Police Constable (PC) Ifzal Zaffar said that the breakfast gathering enabled them to learn more about the Force's policies, bridged the gap between the Force Senior Management and frontline officers as well as boosted their morale. Cherishing the breakfast session as an opportunity to communicate with other NEC colleagues, another PC Niraj Gurung thanked the Commissioner for arranging traditional food for them, and this fully demonstrated the spirit of inclusion within the Force.
