Police Tactical Unit (PTU) Headquarters has designed a new pair of physical training shorts following feedback from officers that the existing ones are unsuitable.
The newly designed shorts have been worn by a number of PTU trainees to test their suitability before being issued to all trainees this month, according to PTU Chief Inspector Chung Pui-sing. Similarly, he said, problems were also found with the existing beret, and with the assistance from Police Stores a new softer material less prone to discolouring was identified. "Berets made with the new material and the availability of more size specifications are smarter and more durable," he said. PTU, Emergency Unit and Marine officers who tried the new berets have found them satisfactory. They are currently being produced and will be distributed Force-wide soon.
