The year 2010 marks the 37th anniversary of the police television
programme "Police Magazine" which will continue to disseminate
crime prevention messages and forge police-public co-operation in
fighting crime. The programme will also report on the latest crime
trend with a lively and interesting presentation style. TV audiences
will also learn more about the work and latest developments of the
force, as well as new legislations.
The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) and RTHK have launched a
brand new series "Crime Prevention Tips". Famous footballers and East
Asian Games (EAG) 2009 gold medalists, Chan Siu-kei and Yapp Hung-fai,
will be guest hosts. The series highlights day-to-day actions that
could help prevent crime and reduce losses resulting from
absent-mindedness.
The series was launched with a "New Year Crime Prevention Campaign" at
Times Square, Causeway Bay, on January 6. Eight EAG gold medallists
lent their full support to the campaign as special guests: Chan Siu-kei
and Au Yeung Yiu-chung of the football team; Li Ching and Tang Peng of
the table tennis team; Christina Mak and Roger Ngan of the squash team;
and Samuel Yu and Michael Lo of the artistic cycling team. Together
with "Police Magazine" hosts Ricky Cheung and Andy Lau, the gold
medallists drove home the importance of crime prevention, played games
with the spectators and distributed "Police Magazine" red packets to
the public. The campaign attracted wide public attention and media
coverage.
