The Research Centre under the Specialised Services Training Centre of Police College has launched a new knowledge management series known as "Intellectual 40m". Compared with other knowledge management activities such as Knowledge Café and Detective Casebook Series, the new series aims to arouse participants' intellectual curiosity and thereby encourage them to take multi-dimensional approaches to address policing issues and enhance their ability of critical and lateral thinking.
The first session of the new series, with "Governance and Control in Public Setting" as a theme, was held at the "Intellectual Corner" of the Force Library on September 27. In front of a full house, Chief Superintendent Chung Siu-yeung shared his views on governance and control in organisations, with numerous examples. On the one hand, he stressed the importance of good governance in organisations, and on the other hand inspired the participants to think critically of the challenges emerging from effective governance with the principle of cost-effectiveness.
The programme of the "Intellectual 40m" Series will be held once a month during lunch hour. Through 40 minutes' sharing by speakers on different topics, participants can better utilise their spare time to acquire knowledge and experience of selected themes, and enhance critical thinking in police setting and observations in a worldwide policing landscape.
