Central District (CDIST) established the Central Consultation Group last year, under which local social groups are invited to attend regular seminars on police policies and work. The primary goal of this initiative is to familiarise the groups with how CDIST maintains law and order so that they would be more forthcoming in supporting the police.
On September 17, the 6th seminar on combatting and preventing pickpocket crimes at shopping centres and shops took place in Central Police Station for 60 participants comprising members of the Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) and shopping centre security personnel.
The seminar consisted of talks, case studies and a question-and-answer session on the latest crime modus operandi and identification of suspicious characters.
During the seminar, CDIST Commander Chau Ping-sun presented letters of compliments to some of the security personnel for supporting the police. Mr Chau also took the opportunity to introduce the latest App of the Hong Kong Police Force, arousing the interest of many participants, who immediately downloaded the App to their smart phones.
