To help officers handle street management policing more effectively, the Specialised Services Training Centre of Police College hosted a Knowledge Café session on "Street Management in the Police Context" at Police Headquarters on September 27, with speakers discussing the problems and experience of this issue with more than 70 officers.
Central District Assistant District Commander (Operations), Superintendent Lam Hung-chuen, spoke of his practical experience of, and the challenges faced by frontline officers in handling, street management. He also cited cases to illustrate the working procedures of the Force and co-operation with other stakeholders in handling the problems.
At the same time, Senior Inspector (Support) Keng Lai-nga also explained from a policy perspective the current standpoint of the Force, the relevant ordinances and the matters to note in relation to street management.
In the views of the participants, the sharing session helped enhance their ability to discharge street management duties and offered them a good platform to share work experiences and views on good practices.
