The Hong Kong Auxiliary Police (HKAP) Family Day 2013 was held at the Auxiliary Police Headquarters on September 15, featuring "Serving the Community with the Support of Families" as a theme and drawing more than 5,000 visitors to enjoy a variety of performances and activities.

Speaking at the event's prize presentation ceremony, Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung praised Auxiliary Police officers for devoting their spare time to maintaining law and order and serving the community. Besides their selfless devotion, the support and understanding of their families were even more important and the HKAP's contribution was recognised by the community, he added.

Over 7,600 public order events took place in Hong Kong last year and various police districts conducted a lot of large-scale operations, Mr Chau continued. Thanks to HKAP's assistance, most of the events and operations were carried out safely and smoothly.

"On behalf of the Force, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Auxiliary members and their families for their big support. With their enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism in serving the community, as well as their family's support, Hong Kong continues to remain one of the safest and most stable cities in the world," Mr Chau said.

Also speaking at the ceremony, HKAP Commandant Yiu Yeung-lung said the Family Day is one of the Auxiliary Police's initiatives to promote healthy lifestyle.

Other officiating guests included Honorary HKAP Commandant, Mr Chau Cham-chiu, Honorary HKAP Commandant, Mr Kwok Chi-shun, and Honorary HKAP Deputy Commandant, Mr Lam Yin-ming.
