A Force delegation comprising Chief Inspector Kong Yiu-kai, Inspector Lee Yuen-ting and Police Constable Man Li Chiong-yu from Hong Kong Island Emergency Unit (HKI EU) visited the Police Operation Unit of the Singapore Police from October 2 to 4.

In the visit to the Special Operations Command of the Singapore Police, the officers met with Superintendent Chong Soo-pin and exchanged operational experience with different units, including Special Tactics and Rescue Unit (STAR), Police National Service Department (PNSD), Operations Department and Special Women Task Team (SWTT). The officers also looked at training activities and equipment. This visit gave the delegation a good idea of the Singapore Police's jobs, including handling domestic violence involving offensive weapons, high-risk arrest, hostage-taking, rescue operation, tactics training for frontline officers, and logistics arrangements.

On the last day of their visit, the delegation members introduced their Emergency Unit and gave a talk on the unit's responsibilities, equipment and training and on how the unit handled emergencies and large-scale operations. The Singapore Police were particularly interested in how the Force deals with public events.

The delegation members and their host also had discussion and exchange of views on laws, management of risk, strategies of control, and possibility of encountering demonstrations at sea, going a long way towards enhancing mutual understanding.
