The Hong Kong Island (HKI) Regional Complaints Prevention Committee has organised the Complaints Prevention Folder Design Competition 2013 to publicise and promote complaints prevention, raise officers' professional sensitivity and offer them a chance to display their creativity. The competition has attracted an active participation by officers.

HKI Regional Commander Li Kin-fai and Deputy Regional Commander Kwok Yam-shu officiated at the award presentation ceremony of the competition at Police Officers Club on October 30.  A member of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Dr Vincent Ho, who headed an adjudication panel for the competition, was the guest of honour at the ceremony.

In his opening speech, Mr Li congratulated the awardees and encouraged officers to continue promoting complaints prevention in line with Force values and provide quality services.

The competition consisted of Individual and Family Groups, and two new awards, namely the Best Painting Award and the Best Creative Design Award, have been introduced for this year's competition. Police Constable (PC) Lok Lai-man and her six-year-old son Yu Pak-hey clinched the title of the Family Kid (six years and under) Group. PC Lok said: "As frontline officers, we are frequently confronted with emergencies and crime prevention work. In the wake of social changes, we have to continue providing quality services so as to earn the trust and support of the community."

That day, Dr Ho and another IPCC member, Mr Ip Shing-hing, attended a meeting of the HKI Regional Complaints Prevention Committee to better understand how HKI Region prevents complaints with research, education, promotion and improved service quality.
