Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office (KE RCPO), Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies jointly hosted the 2012-2013 Kowloon East Best Security Services Election Awards Presentation Ceremony on October 24.
The award scheme forms part of a crime prevention initiative of KE Region - Public Rental Housing Estate Access Control Project - to enhance access control of visitors and prevent burglaries in public housing estates.
The ceremony, running for the eighth year, attracted over 300 participants, in which 55 property management representatives were presented with Outstanding Partner and Best Partner Awards, 76 with Outstanding Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards and 28 with Best Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards.
Two gold awards, two silver awards and one bronze award were presented to the winners chosen from the best security guards. The gold award winners, who were security guards at Wo Lok Estate in Kwun Tong, were complimented for their bravery and sober mind in assisting the police in apprehending a burglar armed with a cutter.
KE Regional Commander Mike Cartwright officiated at the ceremony, while the Chairman of the Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority, Mr Daniel Cham, the chairpersons of Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung Fight Crime Committees, Honorary Secretary of Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, and District Commanders of KE Region presented the awards.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Cartwright expressed heartfelt gratitude to the awardees for helping police fight crimes, as well as sincere thanks to security services companies, property management companies and relevant organisations for their support and close collaboration for, as well as contribution to, crime prevention.
KE Region hopes the award scheme would further motivate all the stakeholders in security and guarding services to upgrade their service standard.
