Ten secondary students from Scotland, who were attending a cultural exchange programme in Hong Kong, visited Lantau North Police Station on October 20 and met some Lantau Junior Police Call (JPC) members.
During the visit, Police Community Relations officers introduced the history, organisation structure, equipment and daily work of the Force, as well as the objectives of the JPC programme.
The Scottish youngsters also watched a demonstration by police dogs and shared with the JPC members their preparation for, and feelings of, the exchange programme.
Taking a great interest in the JPC programme, the youngsters had a lot of interaction with the JPC members.
On October 22, the Scottish students met the JPC members again in a BBQ at Pak Shek, tasting Hong Kong style BBQ and food for the first time. This second meeting offered both parties an opportunity to discuss more serious matters, such as education, school lives, and the transport systems in Hong Kong and UK.
Through the visit, both parties got a better idea of their different cultures and had their horizons broadened.
