The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (HKI) held the Hong Kong Island Best Security Services Awards 2012-2013 presentation ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, on November 20. The award scheme commends security and guarding personnel for their outstanding performances and professionalism in the past year, as well as property management companies for maintaining good security facilities and provides quality services.
The scheme also motivates the security and guarding services industry and the property management industry to further improve the quality and competence of their staff.
The joint effort by the industries and the police has not only succeeded in providing a safe environment for the community, but also helped Hong Kong remain as one of the safest cities in the world.
Over 1,300 nominations for the award scheme were received this year, of which 209 property management units were presented with Outstanding Industrial/Commercial Property Management Award or Outstanding Residential Property Management Award. A total of 200 professional security personnel were presented with Outstanding Security Personnel Award or Best Security Personnel Award. Among them, ten were further selected as Best Top Ten Security Personnel for their outstanding performances by a selection panel comprising representatives from the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority, the four District Fight Crime Committees on Hong Kong Island, the Hong Kong Security Association and Crime Hong Kong Island.
All of the awardees contributed to preventing crime and protecting property in the past year. Some of them assisted police in making arrests in cases of burglary, pickpocketing, shop theft, and indecent assault, while one of them with a high level of alertness even saved the life of an old lady who got accidentally injured at home and was unable to help herself.
Many Representatives from companies, organisations, institutions and schools turned up to support the presentation ceremony, where HKI Regional Commander Li Kin-fai took the opportunity to thank them for helping police prevent and fight crime.
