The Police Volunteer Services Corps (PVSC) have been recognised as a caring team and awarded numerous merits by many organisations. In the "2013 Hong Kong Volunteer Award", PVSC was awarded "Merit of Highest Service Hour Awards 2012 (Public Organisation)", presented by Social Welfare Department.
 
In 2012, PVSC contributed a total of 126,276 volunteer service hours, with 20,796 hours devoted by Rainbow Volunteer Group, which contributed the highest number of service hour among all police voluntary teams.
 
At a presentation ceremony in Kowloonbay International Trade and Exhibition Centre on December 7, two PVSC representatives, former Assistant Commissioner Cheung Siu-wah and Station Sergeant Lam Hok-chim, as well as representatives from Police Civilian Staff Club, Junior Police Officers Association Volunteer Team, Marine Region Volunteer Team (Octans) and Galaxy Police Volunteers Team received the award from the Central, Southern and islands District Welfare Planning and Coordination Committee member, Ms Tao Chee-ying.
 
Police Constable (PC) Ng Pui-sze, a representative from Galaxy Police Volunteer Team, felt particularly honoured to receive the award from Ms Tao, her former school principle. PC Ng has graduated from Police College for just three months, and she is enthusiastic in participating and organising voluntary services.  
 
On the same occasion, SSGT Wong Chi-kong was also awarded "Long Service Medal in 2012 (individual)" of over 20 years for his devotion to volunteer service.
