Dr Ross Wolf, an academic with the University of Central Florida in the USA, and the Division Chief of the local Orange County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit, visited the Auxiliary Support Bureau and the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) on December 6.

Dr Wolf was shown around the facilities at the HKAPF Headquarters in Kowloon Bay.  He was most impressed by the high level of administrative support rendered by the Auxiliary Support Bureau and the Auxiliary Undergraduate Scheme, which recruits full-time undergraduates to join the auxiliary police.

Dr Wolf gave a talk on "Volunteer Policing in the USA" to about 50 HKAPF officers. This was the first time the HKAPF played host to a volunteer police officer from the USA. Dr Wolf's visit is most beneficial to the middle management cadre, and enables them to appreciate the innate strength of the HKAPF and reinforce their commitment to serve the community.

Dr Wolf later met junior HKAPF officers carrying out crowd management duties.
