Kowloon West Regional Commander (RC KW), Mr Cheung Kwai-kee hosted a tea reception on November 6 for community leaders and thanked them for their continuing support for the Force and Mong Kok District (MKDIST). Over 100 guests attended the reception, including members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTM DC), members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee (YTM DFCC), and Chairman of JPC Honorary President Council.
At the reception, Mr Cheung also took the opportunity to present MKDIST officers with an Excellence in Policing Award as well as compliments from the community for providing quality services over the past year.
He pointed out that MKDIST always motivated the community to take part in all kinds of fight crime activities. "Through the 'Fight Crime Veteran' programme of Senior Police Call, senior citizens are invited to take part in various activities on crime prevention, for example prevention of burglary and quick cash crimes. With stakeholders' participation, co-operation and support, significant results have been achieved in these activities," Mr Cheung said.
Later, Mr Cheung, YTM DFCC Chairman, Mr Chan Siu-tong, and MKDIST Commander Duncan McCosh presented the Excellence in Policing Award in the form of a certificate to 18 officers, including uniformed beat officers and officers from Report Room, Investigation Team, Special Duty Squad and Support Unit.
Over the past year, MKDIST received a total of 192 letters of commendation and appreciation from the public and the local community, praising officers for their efforts and assistance. The officers received the compliments in the presence of their family members and community leaders attending the tea reception.
