To update frontline officers on the development of technology crimes and beef up their ability to combat the crimes, Crime New Territories South (NTS) held a seminar at NTS Regional Headquarters on November 29 for over 100 crime officers.

Speaking at the seminar, NTS Senior Superintendent (Crime) Au Chin-chau said: "With the advancement of new technologies, crimes have become more complicated, posting a great challenge to investigations. NTS Regional Headquarters will spare no efforts in improving officers' knowledge of technology crimes. On their part, officers should take on the challenge by enhancing their professionalism."

The seminar mainly covered the latest trend of technology crimes and the experience and techniques of making investigations with examples of real cases. Liaison Bureau provided information on technology crime investigations outside Hong Kong. Commercial Crime Bureau Senior Inspector Lau Siu-pong conducted a question-and-answer session for officers having come across problems whilst investigating technology crimes.

NTS Superintendent Hui Kwai-sang thanked Commercial Crime Bureau and Liaison Bureau for providing very useful information at the seminar, adding that Crime NTS would continue to monitor the latest crime trend.

A summary of what transpired at the seminar would be distributed to frontline crime officers in NTS for enriching their professional knowledge.
