KT Anti-drug Campaign
Adopting a multi-agency approach to combat drug abuse, Kwun Tong District teamed up with Kwun Tong District Council, Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee and non-government organisations in launching an anti-drug campaign, "No Drugs, Beloved by Everyone", on December 7. The campaign featured seminars, workshops and other activities to drive home to young persons the serious consequences of abusing drugs.
Kwun Tong District Commander Chau Cho-kei, Chairman of Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Chow Yiu-ming, and two committee members, Ms Ng Suet-kam and Mr Ma Ka-wai, joined about 200 students from 16 primary and secondary schools in a fun game competition of the Campaign, which aimed at steering the students clear of drug abuse and encouraging them to cultivate a healthy lifestyle.
KW Anti-drug Carnival
Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO KW), in collaboration with the Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee (KWYCC), staged a "Kowloon West Ethnic Harmony No Drugs No Crime Carnival 2013" at Cheung Sha Wan Sports Playground on December 8.
This annual major regional event has been running with the support of District Fight Crime Committees, Junior Police Call, KW Police Volunteer Team, Police Dog Unit, Crime Prevention Bureau and various Non-government Organisations, including Youth Outreach, Operation Breakthrough, Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention and Merchants Support for Rehabilitated Offenders Committee Ltd.
Sham Shui Po District Commander Li Chi-hang and KWYCC Chairman, Dr Leung Lun, officiated at the carnival which attracted about 15,000 local and Non-ethnic Chinese youths and their families. The carnival drove home crime prevention messages through a variety of programmes, including fun games, exhibitions and on-stage performances.
