Tai Po District (TPDIST) offered 50 Senior Police Call (SPC) members a "Gathering cum Crime Prevention Seminar" in Tai Po Police Station on November 21. Welcoming the elders to the event, TPDIST Police Community Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Chan Shan-shan, introduced the background and goals of the SPC scheme and the activities to be organised for them in the coming year.
Officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North disseminated anti-crime and anti-deception messages to the SPC members, including how to remain more security conscious and the modus operandi of burglary and deception.
Before the seminar came to a conclusion, TPDIST Commander Cheuk Hau-yip, thanked three partnership organisations for supporting the SPC scheme and presented them letters of appreciations. The organisations are Tai Po Integrated Service for Senior Citizens of the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macao Command, Ellen Li District Elderly Community Centre of Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association and Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Fuk Hong Social Centre for the Elderly.
He also told the SPC members that they would be given opportunities to make optimal use of their energy, vigour and life experience to serve the community and their peers.
