Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST) has appointed elders who foiled phone scams as Deception Prevention Ambassadors. To mark commencement of this Senior Police Call project on November 11, SSPODIST Commander Li Chi-hang and Sham Shui Po District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Dr Cheng Kam-chung, presented letters of appointment to the elders before a large gathering of guests. At the appointment ceremony, the ambassadors recounted how they outwitted swindlers.

 

At the same time, officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon West took the opportunity to brief elderly present at the ceremony on the latest trend and modus operandi of deception, hoping they would not fall preys to swindlers. SSPODIST also hopes that, through the Deception Prevention Ambassador Programme, the elderly would take part in more community activities, broaden their social circles and care more about the community.
