Lantau District (LTDIST) is committed to promoting social harmony and understanding among different ethnic minorities with a variety of activities. On December 27, 2013, it teamed up with LTDIST Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council and CLP Power Hong Kong in staging a cooking competition known as "Cooking Mama Fight Crime Carnival".
Sponsored by Islands District Fight Crime Committee, the competition succeeded in promoting food cultures and offering a platform for the contestants to share their cuisine experiences. In addition to promoting healthy diets, the carnival also succeeded in encouraging the ethnic groups to participate in community functions and driving home anti-crime messages related to drug abuse, cyber crime and household security.
The judging panel of the cooking competition comprised LTDIST Commander Tsao Ming-lung, Vice-chairman of Islands District Council, Ms Chau Chuen-heung, Islands District Councillor, Mr Lo Kwong-shing, LTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents and CLP representatives. A total of 15 teams comprising family members, took part in the competition to prepare a dish within 30 minutes. The judging panel praised the carnival not only for successfully delivering anti-crime messages but also promoting social harmony.
