Launched in 1997, the Living-the-Values (LTV) Workshop has been continuously reviewed and refined to enhance Force members' commitment to delivering quality services and meeting the public's rising expectations. The workshop is considered one of the most effective means to align officers' personal values with Force Values and to reinforce Force Values at all levels. A total of seven "Waves" of the workshop have been held.

Based on the feedback from the Wave VII workshop participants, the theme of Wave VIII has been set as "Professional Responsibility and Accountability". Its objectives are:

1. To enhance officers' understanding of "Professional Responsibility and Accountability" from both police and public perspectives;

2. To raise officers' awareness and sensitivity of the importance of accountability in a rapidly changing and complex society;

3. To encourage officers to accept "Accountability" for their acts and decisions; and

4. To strengthen officers' sense of pride through responsible and transparent practices.

Between March and June last year, an LTV Microfilm Production and Script Writing competition supporting the Wave VIII's theme of "Professional Responsibility and Accountability" was organised to promote staff involvement and internal communication.  Some of the winning entries have been incorporated into a training package to stimulate discussion and sharing.

Workshops for Superintendents will be conducted in March, to be followed by those for Inspectorate and Junior Police Officer Cadres throughout 2014 and 2015. The relevant materials of Wave VIII, including a publicity trailer, have been uploaded onto POINT.  Click the new hexagon, "LTV workshop Wave VIII", via POINT for further information on the workshops.
