More than 100 representatives from Sai Kung District Council, area committees, property management companies and officers from Tseung Kwan O Division attended a mental health seminar hosted by Social Welfare Department (SWD) on January 21 and discussed handling and supporting suspected mentally disordered persons (MDP).
The seminar offered the professionals handling MPD a clearer picture of the latter's problems and facilitated early identification and referral with a multi-agency approach.
At the seminar, Tseung Kwan O Assistant Divisional Commander (Administration) Tse Chun-yin outlined the Force's roles and authority, including the data transfer mechanism launched in April last year. Other speakers from Hospital Authority, SWD and non-governmental organisations shared their professional knowledge of mental illness and the ways to handle MDP.
The seminar also heightened public awareness of the need to make collaborative efforts to help MDP.
