The Force participated in the Education and Careers Expo from February 13 to 16 to publicise multi-faceted police work with the theme of "Joining the Police, Reaching Full Potential and Serving the Community" and provide the latest information on police recruitment.
During the four-day Expo, Recruitment Division officers manned the Force booth to process applications and answered enquiries. Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung and other senior officers from various police units visited the booth and showed their support for the Force's participation at the Expo. Many Force members also brought their families to visit the booth.
Officers from specialist units and secondary duty cadres also manned the booth to introduce their work and display their equipment, including Weapons Training Division, Police Dog Unit, Marine Small Boat Unit, Emergency Unit, Traffic Formation, Airport Security Unit, Counter Terrorism Response Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Crime Prevention Bureau, Identification Bureau, Force Search Unit, Police Negotiation Cadre, Force Abseiling Cadre and Narcotics Bureau.
A career talk was held at the venue for over 200 visitors, and Recruitment Division received a total of 1,047 applications for Probationary Inspector, Recruit Police Constable and Auxiliary Police Constable.
The Force will recruit about 1,300 officers in 2014/15, comprising 230 probationary inspectors and 1,110 recruit police constables. The recruitment target of Auxiliary recruit police constables is 320.
