Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung hosted a reception for the Consular Corps in Hong Kong at the Ceremonial Area of Police Headquarters on the evening of February 28 as part of the Force's continuing efforts to strengthen ties and collaboration with various sectors of the community. A similar reception was held in 2012.

With gentle breeze and light music by the Police Silver Band as background, Mr Tsang and Senior Directorate Group officers greeted more than 100 diplomats from over 70 countries and officially recognised bodies, as well as other guests, including Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, and officials from the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in HKSAR and other government departments.

Extending a warm welcome to the guests, Mr Tsang re-iterated that Hong Kong remained a safe city with the overall crime rate falling to the lowest level in a decade. He pledged to continue to uphold law and order and ensure the security of consular premises.

Mr Hammad Al-Rowaily, Consul-General of Saudi Arabia, in the capacity of Doyen of the Consular Corps, expressed appreciation for the Force's support and assistance to the diplomatic community and looked forward to closer co-operation and communication with the Force in the years to come.
