With the arrangement made by Police Licensing Office, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, Liquor Licensing Board (LLB) Chairman, Mr Yau How-boa, LLB members and representatives from other government departments paid a night visit to the liquor licensed premises in Central District on February 20. The goals of the visit were to get first-hand information of the operations of different types of liquor licensed premises and the challenges police officers faced while taking enforcement action.

 

During the visit, Mrs Lam was briefed on assessment of liquor licence applications and issues related to the regulation of liquor licensed premises, including crowd control, traffic flow, law and order, fire safety, and noise problems.  Led by officers from Central District in visits to clubs, pubs and upstairs bar, the party experienced the situations in Soho and Lan Kwai Fong at nighttime.
