The Used Clothing Collection Campaign 2013, one of the social responsibility initiatives of the Force and a joint venture with the Salvation Army, has collected 120,910 kilograms of clothing and used items from 25 collection points.
A Handing-over cum Recognition Ceremony was held at Police Headquarters on February 25, with Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Ng Tsui Fung-ying and Lt-Colonel Ian Swan, Officer Commanding of the Salvation Army, Hong Kong and Macao Command, officiating.
Thanking the participating units for their contributions to the collection campaign, Mrs Ng called on them to continue to support the annual campaign. She stressed that the campaign aims at, on one hand, promoting environmental protection and, on the other hand, extending care to the under-privileged.
As a token of their gratitude, Lt-Colonel Swan and the Business Administrator of the Salvation Army, Ms Deirdre Ashe, presented souvenirs to representatives from the participating units for their contributions to the collection campaign.
Now that the Used Clothing Collection Campaign for 2014 has started, Force members are encouraged to send their used clothing, toys, electrical appliances, computers, pianos and books to the collection points set up at Police Headquarters, New Territories South Regional Headquarters, Marine Harbour Division, Marine South Division, Tuen Mun Division, Castle Peak Division, Auxiliary Police Headquarters, Police Officers' Club, Police Sports and Recreation Club, Police Married Quarters and Disciplined Services Quarters at Police College, Old Bailey Street, Wong Tai Sin, Yau Mei Court, Ko Cheung Court, Shun Lee, West Kowloon, Lai King, Tsing Yi, Kwai Fuk Court, Kwai Yung Court, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui and Tuen Mun Wu Hong.
