Forty mentees and 20 mentors of the Police Mentorship Programme 2013-14 visited Marine Regional Headquarters on March 20 and learned from the Divisional Commander of Marine Harbour Division, Superintendent Joseph Li, the responsibilities, job priorities and daily commitments of the Marine Police.

During a visit to the Marine Regional Command and Control Centre, the mentees were briefed on the functions and facilities of the centre, its roles in anti-smuggling, illegal immigration, as well as search and rescue operations. Following the visit, they boarded a police launch to take a close look at the advanced equipment and technology onboard.

The visitors also met junior inspectors who were ex-mentees of the Marine Police Mentorship Programme at an experience-sharing session, gaining more understanding of the professional qualifications required of Marine officers and the career path of a Marine Inspector.

The visit gave the mentees a better understanding of roles of and multi-faceted work of Marine Police.
