To beef up frontline officers' capability to investigate money laundering,  
 
Crime Headquarters, New Territories South (NTS) held a Seminar on Financial Investigation on March 24 for over 100 officers from the Uniform Branch and criminal investigation units in NTS Region.
 
The seminar aimed at imparting to the officers knowledge of global and regional money laundering and financing of terrorism, the skills of combatting the crimes and confiscating crime proceeds, and legal powers.
 
The guest speaker, Chief Inspector (CIP) Chung Yat-cheung from the Financial Investigation Division of Narcotics Bureau, gave a detailed briefing on money laundering offences from different perspectives. He covered from the global trend of money laundering, international joint operations and mutual legal assistance to the Force's strategies to combat money laundering and financing of terrorism, modus operandi, laws, operations of bank accounts, financial analysis and confiscation of crime proceeds.
 
In the views of officers from Special Duty Squads, the skills of financial investigation would help them handle trafficking in dangerous drug and bookmaking more effectively.
