At the invitation of the Hong Kong Post, the Police Philatelic Club delivered a talk on philately at the C.C.C. Chuen Yuen College in Kwai Chung. At the same time, Club Chairman, Mr Ip Lap-ngai, Vice-chairman, Mr Alan Ying, Secretary, Mr Siu Leung-hing, representatives from the Hong Kong Post and School Liaison Officers from Kwai Tsing District had an exchange with students on police-related philately.
During the talk, Mr Ip introduced the history of his club and showed the first-day covers, postal stamps and post cards produced for campaigns of fighting crime and drugs in Hong Kong. He explained how to promote crime prevention and anti-drug awareness through stamp collection and the pleasure that would arise from stamp collection. Mr Ying and Mr Siu then spoke about the various themes and skills of stamp collection.
The talk concluded with a question-and-answer session, which received a good response from the students. Both the teachers and students hoped that a similar talk would be offered again soon for more students to understand how philately can help prevent crimes.
