At the invitation of the State Council Anti-Counterfeiting Joint Conference Office on the Mainland, the counterfeit expert of Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB), Chief Inspector Cheng Ka-wai, conducted seminars on "Identification of Counterfeit Currencies" for bankers in Beijing between May 12 and 14.
As the banks on the Mainland are responsible for examining counterfeit banknotes and issuing certificates on banknotes' authentication, a total of 400 participants attended the seminars, including directors and senior managers of the People's Bank of China, banking officers from different provinces and members of the Anti-Counterfeit Currency Division of the Economic Crime Investigation Department, Ministry of Public Security.
The seminars offered knowledge of how to identify the authenticity of Hong Kong, US, Euro and Sterling Pound banknotes. It also provided a platform for counterfeit experts to share knowledge and experience. The common goal for the audience and CCB is to see closer co-operation between law enforcement agencies and banks in combatting counterfeit currencies.
