In a bid to beef up capability of tackling terrorism, the Deputy Director of the Public Order Administration Bureau (POAB) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Mr Ma Weiya, led a 32-member delegation to visit Hong Kong from May 12 to 16.
Consisting of the top management of the POAB from various cities and provinces, the delegation visited Operations Wing, Operations Hong Kong Island, Operations New Territories North, Marine Operations Bureau, Tai Po District, Police Tactical Unit Headquarters, Special Duties Unit, Counter-Terrorism Response Unit, Key Points and Search Division, Police Dog Unit and Liaison Bureau. During the visits, the delegates exchanged with officers views on policing issues, such as handling major marches, protests, public order events and emergencies, as well as formulation of counter-terrorism strategies and the operation of a command and control centre.
Mr Ma also paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lo Wai-chung, during which Mr Ma emphasised that MPS, in tackling terrorist threats and emergencies, would enhance co-operation with the Force through all possible ways and channels.
