Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) rolled out a scam prevention platform known as "Fight Scams Together" on July 11 with a view to disseminating scam prevention messages through the social media and traditional channels such as television, radio and printed media.
In the wake of widespread use of smart phones, the "Fight Scams Together" platform optimises the use of HK Police Mobile App, Police Public Page and HKP YouTube Channel for timely dissemination of the latest scam modus operandi and prevention messages.
To enrich the video contents of "Fight Scams Together", CCB has teamed up with "Chicken Wing Tips Production House", which comprises amateur movie producers of the Police, to produce a series of micro-movies. It includes dramas and an interesting cooking show on various types of scams with the participation of well-known artiste Nancy Sit and Junior Police Call (JPC) and Tuen Mun District Senior Police Call (SPC) members. Their joint efforts showcased the idea of "Fight Scams Together".
CCB Chief Superintendent (CSP) Lawrence Wong outlined the features of the platform at an interview on July 10. At the interview, the "Chicken Wing Tips Production House" and JPC and SPC members shared their experiences of scam prevention and encouraged their families and friends to access the "Fight Scams Together" platform. Finally, CSP Wong presented certificates of appreciation to them for their remarkable contribution to crime prevention.
CCB is leveraging on the close partnership with various Police formations and strategic stakeholders to publicise the platform. As technological advancement has rendered crimes borderless, CCB is also liaising with law enforcement agencies outside Hong Kong to convey scam prevention messages to overseas audiences.
