Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO KE) hosted a seminar for its  "Fight Crime Project Hand-in-Hand in KE" on June 18 to collect views and formulate publicity strategies on crime prevention.

Among the guests attending the seminar were Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) Chairman, Mr Chow Yiu-ming, Wong Tai Sin DFCC Working Group Chairman, Mr Tai Kwok-wai, Sai Kung DFCC member, Mr Chan Kuen-kwan, and representatives from education sector, primary and secondary schools, as well as youth services associations.

Welcoming the guests, KE Senior Superintendent (Crime) Eugene Yue outlined the crime trend in KE Region. The seminar looked into the factors leading to youngsters and elders falling preys to crimes and set preventing youths from abusing or trafficking in dangerous drugs as the main goal of crime prevention initiatives. The seminar also identified strategies to spread crime prevention messages through education and publicity and heighten students' awareness of crime prevention with a poster design contest and seminars attended by rehabilitated drug abusers.

The RCPO project aimed at reinforcing links with youth services associations, schools and charitable organisations. Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui supported the project by showing short films, staging exhibitions and distributing flyers on crime prevention in its schools as well as elderly and youth centres.
