To make the elderly more aware of phone scam, Yuen Long District (YLDIST) and Pok Oi Hospital co-hosted a Telephone Deception Prevention seminar on June 24. At the seminar, Senior Police Call (SPC) members staged a drama to show the modus operandi of phone scam, while a SPC elder shared her own experience of foiling a scam plot and gave advice on how to alert the police upon receiving a suspicious phone call.

 

Pok Oi Hospital offers a big support for the SPC programme in YLDIST. Its elderly day care centres in Yuen Long display various kinds of crime prevention and road safety promotion materials and some centres disseminate crime prevention messages through their monthly and quarterly newsletters.
