Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Man-wing presented Diamond Award of the Police Safe Driver Award Scheme run by Police Transport Branch to 59 police drivers on July 28.

In addition, 56 drivers have earned Gold Award and certificates will be dispatched to their formations.

The award scheme aims at inculcating a more professional and safety-focused culture in police drivers and giving recognition to those with an outstanding performance record over a period of time.

The scheme offers Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, depending on the period of time a police driver has never been involved in a traffic accident. To qualify for the Diamond Award, a driver should have a minimum of 20 years of accident-free driving in performing frontline duties.

Two of the awardees, Station Sergeant Chung Kam-wa from Traffic New Territories South and Senior Police Constable Tam Tat-on from Police Tactical Unit Headquarters, were delighted with the Force's recognition of the efforts they have made in safe driving.
