With a view to cultivating a culture of Integrity Management (IM) and making supervisory officers more aware of IM, Hong Kong Island (HKI) Region has recently organised a series of IM workshops. One of the workshops, tailor-made for junior inspectors, was held on July 25, attracting around 30 inspectors from various districts.
Most of the inspectors who have just passed out from Police College will be assigned to head a patrol sub-unit or a task-force sub-unit. As they have to work with officers with different backgrounds and experiences, promoting IM may be one of their most challenging missions.
In the workshop, HKI Superintendent Young Chi-man introduced to the junior supervisory officers the various topics of IM. In viewing short video clips on the real life scenarios that they may come across in their daily chores, the officers were stimulated by a thought-provoking session that enhanced their understanding of IM. The workshop also facilitated experience sharing by frontline supervisory officers and junior inspectors.
After the workshop, Inspector Li Kin-sum, Patrol Sub-unit Commander of North Point Division, pointed out that the workshop provoked his thinking of IM and broadened his horizons, while Inspector Lau Chun-ho from Police Tactical Unit Echo Company commented that the video clips warned officers of the danger of being caught unaware of the "slippery slope" of corruption.
