The Vice-President in Store Operations, DFS Group Limited, Mr Johan Pretorius, presented a trophy and seven banners to Airport District (APTDIST) Commander, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Kwok Pak-chung, on July 17 for APTDIST's efficiency and professionalism in fighting crime. In return, SSP Kwok also presented a certificate and appreciation letters to DFS Group Limited for the support and co-operation rendered by its staff.
Since participating in 'Project-EMPT' last year, the DFS Group Limited has, by adopting crime prevention measures and using Task Force Hotlines, directly contributed to 38 and 23 arrests in 2013 and the first half of 2014 respectively.
APTDIST rolled out 'Project-EMPT' to raise awareness of crime prevention among the airport community, airlines and commercial tenants, and to coordinate the community's efforts to combat crime. A big leap in crime detection rate from 33 per cent in the first half of last year to 80 per cent in the same period this year attests to the success of the project.
