Crime Kowloon West (KW) Region mounted the first joint operation under "Project Retriever+" on July 11. In the operation led by Crime KW Regional Headquarters Senior Superintendent Man Tat-shing, Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee members attended a briefing in Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station before visiting the upstairs bars in Tsim Sha Tsui. Three NGOs - Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service - offered outreaching services to the youth-at-risk in the operation.

Encouraged by the success of Yau Tsim District's "Operation Retriever" last year, KW Region has developed a new community engagement initiative known as "Project Retriever+". The Project has now been extended to Sham Shui Po District, Mong Kok District and Kowloon City District.

The new Project adopts a multi-agency approach to reach out to youth-at-risk during visits to venues frequented by young people, in a bid to minimise influences with early intervention. The Project has gained support from district fight crime committees, Kowloon West Youth Care Committee, government departments and non-government organisations.
