Police volunteers captured another award of the Social Welfare Department at the 2014 Volunteering in Community Organisations Sharing Session and Community Caring Shops Recognition Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony on July 19.
In addition to other volunteer service awards, the "Award for 10 000 hours of Volunteer Service" was presented to various service organisations. Last year, members of 40 odd police volunteer service teams chalked up a total of 123 976 hours of community service. Station Sergeant (SSGT) Denny Lam and retired Chief Inspector Alice Lee received the award on behalf of the Police Volunteer Services Corps (PVSC). Ms Lee provided 1 855 hours of voluntary service as a police volunteer last year.
The PVSC Secretariat is very pleased that police volunteers served the community last year, heart and soul. Those wishing to join the ranks of police volunteers may browse the public website of PVSC at
