Following the successful accreditation of the Probationary Inspector and Recruit Police Constable training programmes by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in June, the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) of the Specialised Services Training Centre (SSTC), Police College, hosted a session on July 30 to share the experience gained from the accreditation process.
 
Attending the session were representatives from the College, Auxiliary Support Bureau, Commercial Crime Bureau, Child Protection Policy Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Force Abseiling Cadre, Key Points and Search Division, Marine Region, Police Negotiation Cadre and Police Tactical Unit.
 
In his opening address to the representatives, QAC Chairperson, Senior Superintendent Cheng Tak-ming, reiterated the importance of enhancing organisational capacity with quality training and learning development programmes under a well-managed Quality Assurance Mechanism.
 
In the sharing session, Chief Inspector   (CIP) Lok Wai-lurk from Administration and Support Division, who is a core member of the working group applying for the accreditation, delivered a presentation on the lessons learned and the good practices adopted throughout the accreditation process with highlights on how some of the challenges were overcome, leading to attainment of accreditation. The session offered an effective platform for the participants to share their experiences and views on professionalising training and services.
