Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) mounted a series of crime prevention campaigns between May 30 and July 26 to combat phone deception and Smart-phone Apps fraud.
On May 30, beat and crime officers called at banks, money exchange shops and convenience stores and introduced the latest modus operandi. On June 3, the officers targeted elders and youngsters at public housing estates and shopping centre and updated them on the crime trend and on how to avoid falling preys to crimes.
District Commander Wong Kin-wah, along with community leaders and stakeholders, launched a "Super Police Clinic" in Kwai Chung on July 26. Chairman of Kwai Tsing District Council, Mr Fong Ping,
Chairman of "Silver Harrier Project", Mr Poon Fat-lam, and volunteers from Junior Police Call and "Silver Harrier" lent a big support to the event.
Meanwhile, Police College arranged 40 Probationary Inspectors to lend a hand at the event as part of their training in community policing, bringing the number of officers and volunteers pitching in for the event to over 200.
