Cheung Chau Division (CCDIV) mounted a publicity campaign on safe cycling at Cheung Chau Public Pier and Cheung Chau Waterfront on August 16.
The publicity event aimed at enhancing cyclists' awareness of road safety and emphasising the importance of refraining from carrying passengers on bicycles or tricycles. It enjoyed big community support when four Islands District Councillors joined CCDIV officers in handing out publicity leaflets to the locals and tourists.
At the same time, the officers explained the relevant traffic regulations to cyclists and tourists and reminded them to comply with the regulations. Applauding CCDIV's efforts, one of the Islands District Councillors, Ms Lee Kwai-chun, commented that the campaign succeeded in driving home safe cycling messages not only to local cyclists but also tourists on Cheung Chau.
