At the invitation of the Vietnamese Government, Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch (C&IIB) Chief Superintendent (CSP) Evelyn Lam, as a guest speaker, attended two conferences on fighting corruption, held by the Vietnamese Government with the support of United Nations Office on Drug & Crime (UNODC), in Da Nang, Vietnam, on August 25 and 26.
The conferences took the form of "Workshop on Promotion of Police Integrity, Accountability and Transparency", organised by the Inspector General of Vietnam (Minister for Inspections of all public sectors) for officials from regional offices, and "Workshop on Sharing International Experiences on Corruption Prevention", jointly organised by the Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and Head of the UNODC (Vietnam Office).
At the conferences, besides UNODC speakers, CSP Lam was the only overseas speaker. She gave presentations on three topics, namely "Transparency of Public Officials' Incomes and Assets and Prevention of Conflict of Interest", "International Experience on Integrity Management" and "Complaints Against Police System".
At the end of the conferences, both the Deputy Inspector General, Mr Tran Duc Luong, and the Vice-Minister of MPS, Senior Lieutenant General Dang Van Hieu, praised the Force for transforming into a clean and efficient Police Force in the past 40 years and winning recognition globally.
