To mark the successful conclusion of this year's Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) Summer Job Attachment, a closing ceremony was held at Police College on September 6 before over 100 mentors, mentees and project officers. On the same day, the mentees also watched a passing-out parade of Probationary Inspectors and Recruit Police Constables at Police College.
From June to August this year, 90 PMP mentees were attached to 60 police formations, where they assisted in various short-term research and review projects, event planning, and some information and technology related projects.
After conclusion of the job attachment, the mentees submitted written assignments and an adjudicating panel comprising mentors selected ten most outstanding assignments. At the Closing Ceremony, the top three finalists presented their projects and shared the achievements of their job attachments.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Head Mentor, Chief Superintendent Cheung Ching, encouraged the mentees to set their goals, study hard to equip themselves, and prepare for serving society. She also announced that Recruitment Division would organise a series of recruitment activities next month, including "Police Inspectors Recruitment Express" and talks on "PMP" and "Auxiliary Undergraduates Scheme" on university campuses. "Police Recruitment Day" will be held at Police Headquarters on November 29.
University and tertiary students have welcomed the PMP since its establishment in 2004. The Summer Job Attachment has operated for eight years, providing opportunities for mentees to work in different police units, where they got a better idea of police culture, values and professionalism, developed their potential, and equipped themselves for joining the Force after graduation.
