The "Teens and Elderly Mission Committee" mooted out by the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island Region (RCPO HKI) in April, formally came into being on August 10, to engage teens and elders in crime prevention.
The committee's first appointment ceremony was held at Police Headquarters when HKI Regional Commander Li Kin-fai presented appointment certificates to members of the committee. Chaired by Dr Cheng Shing-fung and with Dr Liu Kai-ming as Vice-chairman, the committee comprises Ms Yeung Yee, Messrs Lau Chung-ming, So Kai-kwok, Wu Shang-tun, Ng Siu-keung, Lam Ping-chun, Tong Tai-kam, Cheung Hoi-kit and Wong Ling-sun as members.
Mr Li also appointed three artistes, Messrs So Yiu-chung, Det Dik and Louis Cheung, as well as Chinese martial arts master, Mr Li Chan-wo, as Crime Prevention Ambassadors of HKI Region .
Following the ceremony was a "Cross Generation Crime Prevention Show", the first event jointly organised by RCPO HKI and the "Teens and Elderly Mission Committee". The programmes of the show included dancing, Chinese martial arts and music. Crime prevention quizzes were held between the performances and souvenirs were distributed to convey crime prevention messages.
