Thirty Junior Police Call (JPC) members from Lantau District (LTDIST) attended a three-day training camp organised by LTDIST and Correctional Services Department (CSD) on Hei Ling Chau from August 25 to 27.
The campers received training in foot-drill, team building and orienteering. They also visited correctional institutions and met inmates of a similar age on Hei Ling Chau. These activities were designed to help the JPC members develop self-discipline and appreciate the serious consequences of brushing with the law.
Two LTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents, Mr Randy Yu and Mr Matthew Wong, attended the closing ceremony when the Senior Superintendent Leung Chung-chee of Hei Ling Chau presented certificates to the campers.
Speaking at the event, District Commander Pat Laidler said the training camp was designed to instil positive values and give the campers an opportunity to learn from the experiences of those who had brushed with the law.
Police Magazine will cover some of the highlights of this successful event.
