The "Youth Street-Run Programme", jointly organised by Tuen Mun District (TMDIST), Lingnan University and RunOurCity Company, came to a successful conclusion with a closing ceremony on September 27 before a large gathering of guests, including over 60 students, teachers and school principals.
District Commander Iain McNicol, Prof Chan Cheung-ming from Lingnan University, Co-founder of RunOurCity Company, Mr Andes Leung, Vice-chairman of TMDIST Junior Police Call Honourary Presidents Council, Mr Dickson Yip, and member of TMDIST Fight Crime Committee, Mr Chan Pui-kin, presented certificates to the students.
During a sharing session, the students said that the programme was a valuable experience for them, allowing them to know themselves and police better and making new friends from other schools.
The programme ran from June to September. Consisting of eight lessons of progressive street-run training, the programme was designed by professional coaches with a view to beefing up runners' perseverance. Tuen Mun police volunteers also assisted the coaches in training the runners in order to enhance their communication with police.
