It was another big day for the new Detective Training Centre (DTC), located at the former Lei Muk Shue Operational Base (LMSOB), when it became operational on November 10, with 142 police officers and seven officers from other Disciplined Services being the first batch receiving training in the Standard Criminal Investigation Course "14S03". On the morning of the same day, Police College Director Paul Lau and Deputy Director Chu Ming-po officiated at a flag-raising ceremony, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Specialised Services Training Centre Chiu Sau-mee and Superintendent DTC Cheng Fuk-chuen, to mark a new chapter of the history of the DTC.
The Force Study Team on the Recruitment and Retention of Crime Officers at District Level has recommended turning the LMSOB into a new dedicated training facility for detectives. On March 15, 2012, the then Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Lee Ka-chiu, officiated at a Ground-breaking Ceremony at the LMSOB, marking commencement of refurbishment works.
On September 5 this year, the then Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Ma Wai-luk, officiated at a Soft Opening Ceremony of the new DTC. The DTC staff officially moved to the new DTC premises from Police College's Aberdeen Campus in late October.
