The Police Community Relations Office of Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST), in collaboration with the Kowloon East Regional Road Safety Team, held 11 road safety seminars for the elders between September 22 and November 25 in a bid to safeguard the safety of elderly pedestrians.
Attracting more than 800 elders, the seminars imparted road safety knowledge and taught the audiences how to use road-crossing facilities. Immediately after the seminars, SPC members and District Councillors distributed fliers on major streets and urged pedestrians to make good use of road-crossing facilities to avoid accidents.

Western District Police Community Relations Office (WDIST PCRO) organised a visit to Cheung Chau Police Station for SPC members on October 18. With the help of officers in the station, the elders got a better idea of the equipment and daily operation of the station and had a glimpse of the police car specially designated for deployment on the island.
On the trip to and back from Cheung Chau, PCRO officers updated the seniors on measures to prevent deception and other crimes. The elders were also informed that preventive measures and other news are available on the Facebook page of WDIST SPC.
The elders said the visit would reinforce co-operation with police in fighting crime.
